Price growth + dividends = total return
A stock's total return combines share price changes with the dividends it pays. A company growing its price 7% a year with a 3% dividend yield delivers about 10% in total, but only if you reinvest the dividends (a DRIP). Turn DRIP off to see the dividends collected as cash instead.
Single stocks carry single-company risk
Mega-caps like NVIDIA or Apple have delivered huge gains, but even great companies can fall 50% or more, and some never recover. Use our What If I Had Invested? tool to see real historical results and drawdowns. Many investors keep single stocks to a small part of a diversified portfolio.
